Developing "Allergy-Reduced Eggs" for the Global Market
Srinivasa Farms
Combining Japanese Genome Editing Technology with India’s Poultry Scale
Platinum Bio Inc. (PtBio) is proud to announce a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Srinivasa Farms Pvt. Ltd., a leading integrated poultry breeding company in India. Together, we are launching a groundbreaking initiative to develop allergy-reduced eggs for consumers worldwide.
Our Mission: Safe Eggs for Everyone
Egg allergies are a significant dietary challenge for many people. The primary cause of these allergic reactions is a specific protein called Ovomucoid (OVM) within the egg white. Our goal is to produce eggs that do not contain this allergen, making them safe for people with egg allergies to eat.
The Technology
PtBio will apply its proprietary genome-editing technologies, including Platinum TALEN® and Zinc Finger Nucleases (ZFN), to precisely knock out the gene responsible for producing the OVM allergen. This technology allows us to create chickens that naturally lay allergy-reduced eggs.
A Powerful India-Japan Collaboration
This project leverages the unique strengths of both companies over a 4–5 year roadmap:
PtBio (Japan): Provides cutting-edge genome editing technology, scientific expertise, and research funding.
Srinivasa Farms (India): Provides high-quality poultry breeds (Hy-Line varieties), state-of-the-art breeding facilities, and leads regulatory approvals in India.
Future Outlook
Research and development will take place in India, utilizing local talent and infrastructure. Upon successful development and regulatory approval, we aim to commercialize these allergy-free eggs in both the Indian and global markets, contributing to a safer and more inclusive food future.
