On May 21, 2026, PtBio participated in an insightful seminar hosted by the Bureau of Biotechnology in Livestock Production, under Thailand's Department of Livestock Development. The hybrid event, titled "Genome Editing in Agriculture: Regulation, IP, and Technology Essentials," gathered government officials, researchers, and industry professionals to explore the rapidly evolving landscape of agricultural biotechnology.

The seminar commenced with opening remarks from Chumpon Boonrod (D.V.M.), Director of the Bureau of Biotechnology in Livestock Production, setting the stage for deep dives into both the regulatory and technical facets of genome editing.

PtBio Asia's Key Contributions

Representing PtBio Group, Mr. Takaaki Matsuki, Asia Regional Director, played a central role in the event's educational agenda. He served as the primary lecturer, delivering comprehensive presentations on critical industry topics:

  • Regulatory Landscape and Intellectual Property: Mr. Matsuki opened with an introduction to PtBio and guided attendees through the complex regulatory frameworks and IP considerations that organizations must navigate when developing genome-edited agricultural products.

  • Technology Essentials: In his second session, he broke down the technical science behind the innovation, helping participants understand the fundamental differences among various genome editing tools, including CRISPR technologies, Zinc Finger -ND1 and Platinum TALENs.

Following the lectures, the event concluded with an engaging Q&A session and closing remarks led by PtBio CEO Mr. Keisuke Okuhara, addressing final technical and regulatory inquiries from the audience.

Through participation in vital government-led initiatives like this, PtBio continues to solidify its role as a trusted partner and thought leader in biotechnology across Asia. We remain dedicated to supporting the safe, regulated, and innovative application of genome editing to advance livestock production and agricultural sustainability in Thailand and beyond.
