PtBio Group Advances Gene Editing and Bio-DX Capabilities Through Collaborative Research with Waseda University

25.05.2026

PtBio Group (Headquarters: Hiroshima, Japan; CEO: Keisuke Okuhara) is pleased to announce the commencement of a strategic funded research project with Waseda University, one of Japan’s premier research institutions.

Led by Professor Taisuke Umeno at the School of Advanced Science and Engineering, Waseda University, this collaborative initiative focuses on leveraging evolutionary synthetic biology to develop a high-speed DBTL (Design-Build-Test-Learn) system for Zinc Finger gene editing tools.

The project aims to establish and validate an innovative end-to-end platform capable of freely designing, prototyping, and delivering custom Zinc Fingers—referred to as "Platinum Finger"—for any specific target sequence.
